Iga Święcicka

Iga Święcicka (born 1967) is a respected painter and doctor of art, born in Poland. Her artistic education includes studies at the Institute of Fine Arts at the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, where she had the pleasure of studying in the painting studio under the supervision of Professor Ewa Pełka and Professor Urszula Ślusarczyk. She completed her PhD under the supervision of Professor Ryszard Ługowski. He currently lives and works in Warsaw, where he develops his artistic and theoretical approaches to art.

Iga Święcicka is the creator of the concepts of “Internal Form” and “Active Form”. Her artistic activities include painting, exhibitions and curating. She has gained recognition for over 20 individual and 50 collective exhibitions, presenting her works not only in Poland but also abroad, including: in France, Italy, Argentina, Canada, USA and Ukraine. She is also a scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

Working with the Pionowy Wymiar Kultury Foundation and the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Święcicka is involved in various cultural projects. She also participated in conferences and discussion panels, paying attention to the context of the spirit and spirit of modern times. As part of these activities, she took part, among others, in the International Conference “Homo Spiritualis of the 20th and 21st centuries.” – Collegium Maius of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.

The artist moves in the area of ​​conceptual art, creating her own theoretical concepts and ideological assumptions. Her creative strategy is based on the belief that art results from an internal need. Her paintings are like painting haiku, a concise language of information, not only a vision of a symbol, but also synonyms of words and concepts. Święcicka reaches for the canon and frame, using the simplest geometric forms. She called the space she creates “internal form”, an image of memory – an engram. He paints as an expression of the process of cognition, using his own paradigm, alphabet of shape and color to express content previously expressed in prose. He says about his work: “The recipe for my art is tradition, classic form, and the spice is emotion.” Her works are therefore subtle but deeply thought out, introducing the viewer to the world of form and emotions, tradition and modernity.
