Maciej Rakowski
Born on December 1, 1985 in Lublin. In 2010, he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology. Initially, he started his career in architecture and interior design.
In 2015, he and his team won second prize in the SARP architectural competition for developing a concept for the revalorization of the seat of the Museum of Literature. Adam Mickiewicz in Warsaw.
For the office design for Papaya Films, he and his team received an award in the category: Best Office in the Creative Industry in the CBRE OFFICE SUPERSTAR competition in 2018.
In recent years, he has been increasingly involved with drawing. He creates minimalist monochromatic miniatures made in ink and crayon with collage elements. His works include fragments of cropped photographic plates, brass, old yellowed paper and tracing paper. The works are created on the border between abstraction and the representation of space. The arrangement of lines and ink stains may evoke various associations and resemble fragments of the landscape or traces of human activity left in space. Everyone can see something different in them. It is the recipient’s subconscious that will prompt them and allow them to interpret and give meaning to the tangle of lines of individual works.
In February 2023, his first individual exhibition “Dialogue of Generations” took place (together with Krystyna Rakowska) at the Kazimierz Center of Culture, Promotion and Tourism in Kazimierz Dolny.
